While Manu Valley is famed now, its start in 1980 wasn’t the most propitious. Back then, Dipankar Chatterjee borrowed funds and purchased a fine “Balmer Lawrie” CTC machine, which he carried by boat across the Manu river to install in a tiny fledgling factory. The boat capsized, and it took all of DC’s tenacity to retrieve the machine. There are ten CTC machines now in a state of the art “online factory”.
